200+ MWpPM-KUSUM Delivered

Biography

Dr. Sudesh Bhagwat is Director (Technology & Innovation) at SolarKey, where he leads the company's work in AI-driven solar asset management. His route there is unusual — a physicist by training who spent more than a decade at the frontiers of experimental research before bringing that same analytical discipline to renewable energy.

His doctoral and postdoctoral years were grounded in monolayer thin-film and magnetism physics: a five-year postdoctoral tenure at Freie Universität Berlin, followed by the world-renowned Max Planck Institute in Halle, and then a research group leadership role at IIT Kanpur. This was exacting experimental work — pulling clean signal from noisy measurement data, recognizing structural patterns in diffraction results, and correlating physical structure with observed behavior. It's the same instinct for finding meaning in messy, high-frequency data that sits at the heart of modern machine learning on physical systems.

He carried that rigor into solar, managing MW-scale grid-connected and rooftop projects end to end, advising the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, and USAID on feasibility studies across Afghanistan and Iraq, and more recently designing and executing 200+ MWp under the PM-KUSUM scheme. Alongside this, years of teaching physics and training field engineers sharpened a parallel strength — making complex technical ideas clear and usable for the people who act on them.

At SolarKey, these threads converge: the physicist's eye for signal in noisy data, the practitioner's hard-won knowledge of how solar plants actually behave, and the educator's clarity — now directed at a platform that turns relentless plant telemetry into faults caught early, losses explained, and clear next actions for operators.
